Docent Selected by GlaxoSmithKline as eLearning Solutions Provider for More Than 100,000 Employees Worldwide

March 13, 2002

Setting the standard for eLearning in the Life Science industry, Docent Inc.

(NASDAQ: DCNT), the premier provider of eLearning solutions for Global 2000

companies, today announced that GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE:GSK) will standardize

its learning on a single global implementation of the Docent Enterprise™

Learning Management Server (LMS) for the company’s base of more than 100,000

employees. As a result, all employees will be able to identify and access a

wide range of learning opportunities from a single online source, and learning

professionals will be able to effectively track compliance with regulatory and

corporate learning requirements and manage learning resources.

Over time the system may also be extended to allow suppliers to learn about

GSK’s business and processes, and to enable customers to learn more about GSK’s

products. The implementation is expected to deliver financial and operational

benefits to each GSK business unit with all new LMS requirements now being met

using the Docent system rather than via independent implementations. Additionally,

migration feasibility plans are being developed for other existing LMS installations

within GSK.

"Companies in the Life Science industry are recognizing that the delivery

of personalized, on-demand eLearning can play a critical role in maintaining

a competitive edge in the marketplace," said Andy Eckert, president and

COO of Docent. "With Docent Enterprise, GSK will be able to quickly and

efficiently leverage its complex knowledge base to solve key business problems

on a global basis."

Docent Enterprise Enables Global Compliance and Harmonization

Docent Enterprise enables tracking of global learning for regulatory compliance

compliance with regulations specified in the Food and Drug Administration’s

21 CFR Part 11.

In addition, Docent is compliant with draft specifications of eCTD Working

Group of the Harmonization of Technical Requirements Task Force, which is working

on a standard for electronic submission of documents to multiple global regulatory

bodies. Docent is also compliant with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s

Pharmaceuticals Affairs Bureau guidelines in Japan, as well as with the guidelines

of the European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products. Coupled with

global customer support, an internationalized suite of products, and full support
