Creo Goes Live with Aspen for Worldwide Learning Initiative

November 18, 2002

BELLEVUE, Wash.–Nov. 18, 2002–Click2learn (Nasdaq:CLKS) today announced that Creo Inc. (Nasdaq:CREO) (TSX:CRE), a world leader in technology solutions for the graphic arts industry, has deployed the entire Aspen Productivity Suite(TM) — including Learning Management (LMS), Learning Content Management (LCMS) and Virtual Classroom (VC) modules — to provide a complete learning experience to more than 4,000 Creo employees worldwide.

Creo’s decision to implement the Aspen suite was based on the company’s increasing focus on delivering superior customer service to their worldwide customer base. By ensuring that all employees have access to the knowledge they need, when they need it, in the manner which best meets their individual learning style, Creo expects to not only realize efficiency gains, but to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Initially, Creo used the Aspen LMS to drive a pilot program for 1,000 users in the North American product training and human resources groups. The pilot, based on a corporate university model, utilized Aspen to provide a centralized learning center that blended traditional instructor-led training with a new emphasis on online learning, including Web-based training and Internet seminars. In just 18 months, the program reduced operating costs, enhanced process efficiencies through automation, reduced headcount, removed redundant, inaccurate pieces of information, and — most significantly — showed an overall return on investment estimated at 374%.

“In the current economic environment, it is crucial for companies to deploy learning solutions that can demonstrate a significant return on investment,” said Kevin Oakes, chairman and CEO of Click2learn. “Creo is demonstrating that Aspen’s integrated and comprehensive platform not only lowers the total cost of ownership, but delivers productivity increases when learning technology is used strategically in the context of the overall business.”

Creo will support its global organization by integrating Aspen’s localization capabilities to accommodate foreign languages, multiple time zones and multiple currencies.

According to Roger Lines, Creo Corporate V.P. Customer Services and Solutions, Creo plans to increase its focus on training and knowledge transfer to encompass all employees within the next 12 months. “As we continue to expand globally, our customers will expect to receive a consistent level of service, at any time and in any country. Aspen’s robust and scalable capabilities will enable Creo’s customer service department to reach a new level of excellence.”
