Compass Knowledge Holdings Launches Advanced Physician Assistant Program

October 24, 2000

Delivered by Compass Knowledges Global HealthEd division, the program taps the growing demand for Physician Assistants by the health care industry. The U.S. Department of Labor projects employment to grow at more than 36% between 1998 and 2008. According to the American Academy of Physician Assistants, there were about 34,200 certified PAs in clinical practice, as of January 1999.

The purpose of the Master of Science degree is to offer PAs advanced education and experience to best help them prepare for the market needs. This program has a common goal with all of our programs, to provide ‘knowledge that earns for the working professional, said Rogers Kirven, C.E.O. of Compass Knowledge.

Economists in the Labor Bureaus Office of Employment Projections cite employment opportunities are expected to be good for physician assistants, due to anticipated expansion of the health services industry and an emphasis on cost containment.

It is wonderful that our relationship with Compass is allowing us to deliver a quality educational program in an innovative way, to a national audience, commented O.T. Wendel, Associate Provost and Dean of Faculty of Arizona School of Health Sciences.

The program gives the working Physician Assistant a choice of five specialty tracks: Family Medicine, Sports Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Forensic Medicine, and Occupational Medicine, all delivered via distance education. Utilizing the Compass Learning System™, students are able to complete the majority of their studies at their convenience in the comfort of their own homes.
