Click2learn Tapped for WorldWide Retail Exchange’s Training Solution

March 19, 2002

BELLEVUE, Wash.–March 18, 2002–Click2learn (Nasdaq:CLKS) announced today

that the WorldWide Retail Exchange (WWRE), the world’s premier business-to-business

exchange for retailers and suppliers, has selected Aspen Enterprise Learning

Platform(TM) for a global training initiative targeted at the WWRE’s global

membership base. Aspen will enable the WWRE to offer its members highly specialized

training on group purchasing, auction circuits, private label orders and other

global procurement programs. Retailers and suppliers can use Aspen to record

and share information and experiences related to WWRE’s global procurement systems

and processes, and WWRE can capture and analyze this feedback for continuous

improvement.

"Click2learn’s Aspen platform offered the best single-source solution

for creating, deploying and tracking global training. Hosting the program with

Click2learn also allows us to launch our program more quickly, while giving

us the flexibility to scale the program as we grow. But Aspen also goes far

beyond the traditional training systems on the market today, offering us unique

collaborative features that will allow members of supply chains to share information.

This is a critical element for process improvement and something we’re quite

excited about," said Colin Dyer, chief executive officer of the WWRE.

WWRE has purchased the full Aspen product suite, enabling the organization to

take advantage of Aspen’s integrated learning management (LMS), learning content

management (LCMS) and collaborative capabilities.

Aspen’s LCMS technology will enable the WWRE to develop its content in-house,

saving time and costs associated with creating and updating training programs.

Aspen makes it easy for business professionals without special programming skills

to work with developers to create interactive content based on learning objects.

This modular content is especially useful for large-scale learning programs,

and for customizing learning tracks for to specific member organizations or

geographic regions.

This content will be distributed worldwide via the Aspen Learning Management

Server(TM). WWRE will use Aspen’s capacity for tracking skills and competencies

to assess how well the training is working, and refine training to meet the

needs of different companies and different learners. In addition, the platform

will be hosted through Click2learn, allowing WWRE to minimize IT system maintenance

and quickly scale their learning program as membership rises. Described by industry

analysts as the new model for enterprise learning technology, Click2learn’s

Aspen Enterprise Learning Platform is designed to facilitate the capture, management

and dissemination of corporate knowledge to improve productivity and business

performance.

The platform has an open architecture and is made up of three modular but independent

components that are designed to work as an integrated system. The Aspen Learning

Management Server (LMS) is used for competency management, skills-gap analysis,

tracking of assessments and resource management for either e-Learning or instructor-led

training. The Aspen Content Development Server (CDS) is used to rapidly author

highly effective e-Learning content and manage large, team-based content development

projects. And the Aspen Learning Experience Server (LXS) delivers a personalized

learning experience to improve knowledge transfer and facilitate knowledge exchange

with a community of peers and experts.
