Classroom Connect Offers Graduate Hour Coursework Through California State University at Bakersfield

March 2, 2001

BRISBANE, Calif., — Classroom Connect, Inc. (www.classroom.com), the leading provider of Internet-based curriculum products and professional development programs for K-12 education, announced today it has allied with California State University at Bakersfield (CSUB) to offer graduate hour coursework and continuing education credit through Connected University(TM), Classroom Connect’s award-winning online professional development community for educators.

CSUB has approved all of Connected University’s California-appropriate online professional development courses. CSUB registrants receive 4.5 graduate quarter hours or 4.0 CEUs upon completion of each six-week course. Registrants for three-week courses receive 2.0 CEUs.

Graduate quarter hour coursework requires a “wrap-around” project, or in other words, additional off-line work negotiated with a CSUB professor. The additional coursework is usually supplementary reading and an action-reflection paper on what the participant learned. The graduate credits and CEUs from CSUB are available to Connected University subscribers only.

Scott Noon, vice president of Connected University for Classroom Connect, said of the relationship, “We are very excited to enter this strategic partnership with CSUB to reach the specific needs of the California educator, eventually allowing both organizations to more broadly address credentialing and degree options for teachers. CSUB will allow California teachers to enhance their careers through challenging, convenient, interactive education.”
