Capella University Expands Into Global Education Markets Through New Partnership With Informatics

January 17, 2002

Capella University announced it has formed a distribution partnership with Informatics, a global IT training company based in Singapore, that extends the opportunity for adult learners outside the U.S. to obtain a graduate-level degree from an accredited American institution.

PurpleTrain.com, the e-learning service provider by the Informatics Group, will represent Capella by marketing, recruiting, pre-screening applications and collecting tuition and fees for non-U.S. citizens interested in any of the three graduate degree programs offered through Capella University’s School of Business (MS, MBA or PhD). The new partnership provides Capella with a learner recruitment model that allows the University to unlock the potential of the Asian and European markets and is the University’s first step in proactively attracting learners from outside the U.S.

“We have already had some success with international learners. Currently, Capella University has learners from 40 different countries but we know there is more demand in the marketplace,” said Melissa Rappaport, Vice President of Business Development at Capella University. “Making rewarding quality educational experiences accessible to adult learners — no matter where they are in the world — is an important part of the Capella vision. Partnering with innovative leaders in education like Informatics is simply a better way for us to approach learner recruitment abroad.”

Informatics has more than 400 education centers in 38 countries and trains more than 450,000 learners annually. Learners recruited and served by PurpleTrain.com can now participate in the same courses available to Capella’s current U.S. learners. This global effort will further diversify the backgrounds and cultures that Capella’s interactive course room brings to learners.

“We are excited to assist Capella University in removing the barriers for adult working professionals seeking high-quality education,” said Rajinder Singh, assistant director of PurpleTrain.com. “During a time when there is a vast demand for online education, and particularly American degrees, we are proud to help our students obtain graduate level degrees from an accredited American institution like Capella.”
