Candle Debuts e-Learning Exchange

September 19, 2001

Candle Corporation announced its Candle e-Learning Exchange (eLX(™)), a live, interactive e-learning program. Targeting Fortune 500/Global 2000 customers, eLX delivers browser-based access to online courseware for Candle’s e-business integration and performance management software, slashing corporate customers’ travel and overhead expense associated with acquiring specialized sophisticated software skill sets for knowledge workers.

Supporting its position as a leading IBM Corp. reseller, Candle will also offer general courseware on IBM’s MQSeries, MQSeries Integrator and WebSphere Application Server via the learning portal ( www.candle.com/elx).

Complementing its position as a leading independent software vendor (ISV), Candle is a significant force in e-business integration and performance management software discipline training. In addition to providing expert instruction on its own products, Candle is a leading independent provider for education and training on IBM middleware products. Candle instructors taught more than 10,000 man days in 2000, training more than 3,500 students in the traditional face-to-face methodology.

The eLX virtual approach brings Candle’s entire worldwide force of e-business integration and performance management practitioners online — providing global access to the highest-quality education, optimizing curriculum customization and defeating the boundaries of geographies and time zones. Candle distance-learning training is available in two categories:

  • Virtual On Site — Candle consultants work with organizations to understand their training requirements and build tailored courses to

support their unique needs. Organizations select any of Candle’s 170

available courseware objects to build a virtual on-site education

program. The courseware catalog is available at http://www.candle.com/elx–catalog

This approach provides for a common education experience across

distributed audiences — driving significant travel/expense savings and

    productivity enhancements.

  • Virtual Public Classes — Candle offers four courseware objects

monthly. Users can check the schedule and register to attend these

    standard sessions at

    www.candle.com/elx.

“Prior to eLX, the technical complexity of enterprisewide software platforms and applications usually required in-person training spanning several full days,” said Jim Montagnino, vice president of Candle’s Worldwide Consulting and Services. “With two-thirds of corporate training budgets spent on travel and expenses, a Web-based tool such as eLX provides value by delivering immediate software training with no downtime, no lost workforce productivity and no travel expenses.”

Pricing and Availability

Both Virtual On Site and Virtual Public Classes are available immediately. Candle eLX Virtual Public Classes are packaged in 1 1/2- to 3 1/2-hour Web seminars. Pricing is dependent on the courseware objects selected and the distribution of the attendee base. For more information about eLX pricing, call Candle at (800) 97CANDLE or visit www.candle.com/elx. Candle continues to offer training and education in the traditional face-to-face approach.
