Bringing Online Resources to Faculty Finger Tips

Sentient DISCOVER v2.0 will enable faculty members to embed traditional and electronic learning resources within their resource lists, which eases the transition towards e-learning. Through its architecture, the learning resource management system – Sentient DISCOVER allows faculty members to search multiple resource databases and easily embed links to such resources within the lists. In recognising the value of MERLOT resources, Sentient Learning has integrated MERLOT with Sentient DISCOVER v2.0.

MERLOT is an international cooperative that collects and makes freely available high-quality online resources to improve learning and teaching within higher education. With a constantly growing collection of over 9,000 online teaching-learning materials and a directory of over 17,000 individual members, faculty can find both curricular and human resources to aid their use of technology in teaching and learning. Sentient DISCOVER 2.0 will enable MERLOT to bring its resources to where many faculty are composing their online courses – in course management systems such as WebCT and Blackboard. Sentient DISCOVER 2.0 will also enable faculty to conduct “one-stop shopping” for library, publisher, and MERLOT materials that students will need for their online education.
