Blackboard Announces European Advisory Board

November 3, 2003

The formation of the Blackboard European Advisory Board serves as a critical platform for collaboration with the European academic community. Board members will share their ideas, experiences, and innovations with other members and Blackboard’s product development team, as well as represent peer perspectives to ensure that Blackboard solutions continue to align with the diverse needs of academic staff and students across Europe.

“Blackboard has maintained a strong commitment to the needs of European institutions since the Company since its founding in 1997,” said Matthew Pittinsky Chairman and Co-Founder of Blackboard. “In formalizing a specific advisory board for Europe we build on our own experiences to date and add the experience of institutions on the front-lines of implementing, administering and directing e-Education initiatives.”

Institutional members are nominated and selected for the Blackboard European Advisory Board based on their unique ability to offer diverse insight into the issues affecting e-Education policies and procedures with demonstrated leadership in e-Learning innovation. Insight from the board will help Blackboard provide its European clients with effective technology solutions that meet the evolving needs of educators and that address today’s education policy and specific challenges.

Blackboard’s European Advisory Board represents a broad spectrum of the European community. The new board has members from Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, The Netherlands, and The United Kingdom. The diversity of the Board ensures that voices and needs of organizations of all size and scope are equitably represented.
