Avid to Demonstrate Highly Integrated Workflow Solutions at IBC 2001

(NASDAQ: AVID) today announced it will demonstrate its “Make, Manage and Move MediaINTO” theme at this year’s International Broadcasters’ Conference (IBC) by showcasing its highly integrated workflow solutions designed to set new standards for the creation, management and distribution of digital media. In line with its strategy to help customers collaborate more effectively, Avid will also show a number of new releases of its industry-leading software products for storage and networking, broadcast, post production and new media markets.

Future Releases for Storage & Networking

Avid’s tightly integrated workflow solutions will be centered on the availability of Avid Unityb MediaNet version 2.0 and version 2.1, the newest version of Avid’s network for professional content creation and media distribution, which will be launched at IBC. Avid Unityb MediaNet version 2.1 features significant advancements such as dual stream uncompressed support for Macintosh systems and the ability to simultaneously share uncompressed media between Macintosh systems. Version 2.1 also includes Avid Unity PortServer Pro, which allows NewsCutter> XP clients to connect to the Avid Unity system via Ethernet, expanding the total client support for up to 50 real-time systems.

Future Releases for Broadcast

For broadcasters, Avid will be highlighting coming releases of its Avid> NewsCutter XP v.2.1 (including NewsCutter XP Mobile), which features 4.1.1 PAL, as well as PortServer Pro Support (expanding Avid Unity for News to 50 simultaneous NewsCutter clients); the soon-to-ship support for IMX on AirSPACEb video server as well as AirSPACE version 3.0 which includes Transfer While Record, Play While Transfer, and further integration with Avid Unity For News and Media Browseb; iNEWSb version1.5 featuring Media Browse and additional third party application integration; and Media Browse version 2.2, featuring (but not limited to) voice over, audio level control, split audio, and further integration with AirSPACE and Avid Unity for News, including database (Avid Unity MediaManager) synchronization.

Future Release Previews for Post Production

For postproduction users, Avid anticipates announcing version 5.0 of Avid|DS and Avid|DS HD, the industry’s premiere nonlinear production (NLPb) systems. These new versions will include additional real-time capabilities and exciting new features and enhancements spanning all areas of the system’s toolset. Also at IBC, Avid expects to announce the shipment of Media Station XL version 10.5, a cost-effective digitizing and output station designed to improve workflow in post-production environments. The newly available Avid Symphonyb version 3.5, Media Composer> 10.5 and Avid Xpress> version 10.5 systems will also be showcased.

In addition, Avid will be showing the recently released Avid NetReviewpostproduction system, a professional, private media remote review tool. Built on the cutting edge technology that powers the AvidProNet Review & Approvalpostproduction service, the NetReview system streamlines the review process by reducing time spent by editors on non-critical tasks such as duplication and mailing of tapes and increasing the flexibility of reviewers to view and comment on media from virtually any location. Features include: frame-accurate, roundtrip reviewer comments for supported Avid editing systems; transaction archive and reporting; customizable user interface; automated encryption; and encoding templates.
