Arrow Electronics Selects Aspen to Drive Training Intiative for 5,000 Employees Across North America

September 17, 2002

Arrow will use the highly acclaimed Aspen LMS to integrate training information from different divisions throughout the company into a centralized, blended learning program with a single point of management. Aspen will allow Arrow Electronics to manage all aspects of learning through Arrow University — from traditional, instructor-led classes to web-based curriculum. Arrow will also use Click2learn’s ToolBook(TM) desktop authoring software to develop approximately 120 online courses encompassing various topics.

The delivery of these courses through Aspen will enable Arrow’s training managers to assess skill levels and track individual employee’s progress within the curriculum. Through Aspen, Arrow Electronics’ managers will also be able to review assessments and required learning events to ensure that employees attain the necessary competencies to effectively perform in the workplace.

“Our continued relationship with Click2learn is a direct result of their ability to deliver technology solutions that are scalable to our changing needs,” said Jeff Wilbert, manager, Operations Training Tools & Technology at Arrow Electronics. “Aspen has enabled us to implement one of the most sophisticated training programs in our industry, one which will revolutionize the way learning occurs at Arrow Electronics.”

“We’re pleased to be the underlying technology for Arrow University, especially as the company expands its use of e-learning to gain a strategic advantage in the highly competitive electronic component market,” said Kevin Oakes, chairman and CEO of Click2learn. “Many of our customers have identified a corporate university, encompassing an enterprise-wide, centralized learning strategy, as a great way to leverage the collective knowledge of the workforce and improve business performance. A unified, robust, easy-to-implement platform is often a critical component for success. Aspen, which encompasses more methods for disseminating and managing knowledge & courseware than any platform on the market today, has already been successful at Arrow Electronics.”

“Based upon the learning foundation they have established over the past two years, Arrow Electronics has recently been recognized by Training Magazine as number 61 in their 2002 assessment of the Top 100 training organizations in the country,” continued Oakes. “We fully expect that Arrow University, which is powered by Aspen and features over 400 titles that they developed using Toolbook, will help Arrow Electronics to be rated even better in next year’s assessment.”

Described by industry analysts as the new model for enterprise learning technology, Click2learn’s Aspen platform is designed to facilitate the capture, management and dissemination of corporate knowledge to improve productivity and business performance.
