Arizona Board Of Regents Taps Hezel Associates To Provide Recommendations For of Future of Arizona Regents University

May 10, 2004

ARU is a cooperative service jointly offered by Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and University of Arizona. Hezel Associates recommendations will be based on a three-month study to evaluate the initial vision, goals and purpose of ARU in light of changing needs and the desire to place a strong emphasis on student-centered learning and service.

“To remain relevant and respond to the shifting directions and priorities of its participating institutions, ARU must contend with the changing needs of student populations and the rapidly evolving field of distance education,” said Dr. Richard T. Hezel, president of Hezel Associates, “Armed with this critical information, ARU’s leaders can make cost-effective decisions while extending reach and access to students.”

“Increasing access to higher education for Arizona residents, increasing college-going rate, and reducing time to degree completion are high priorities for the Board of Regents,” said Ted Christensen, Assistant Executive Director for Arizona Regents University. According to Christensen, Hezel Associates’ experience in educational delivery via technology, combined with its research capacity, was critical to the selection committee.

Hezel Associates is expected to provide the Board of Regents with its final recommendations by early July.
