Apex Learning Partners With Power-Glide to Provide Online Foreign Language Courses To High School Students

June 26, 2001

Apex Learning Inc. announced at the 22nd annual National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) a partnership with Power-Glide International, Inc. to offer online foreign language courses for high school students.

Apex Learning will expand its current offerinf vocabulary and phonics. Given the importance of an audio-intensive experience when learning a foreign language, the courses will enable students to record and listen to audio files of themselves speaking and to submit those files to instructors for critique.

“We encourage students to explore and cultivate their individual learning style and online learning gives them the convenience and the flexibility to do just that,” said James Blair, CEO of Power-Glide. “Apex Learning’s commitment to student achievement and it’s success in partnering with over 22 states and districts makes this partnership a great fit for us.”

The agreement allows Power-Glide to take advantage of Apex Learning’s experience in the online market and marks the first time Power-Glide’s courses will be distributed through an online platform. Power-Glide is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and all its courses are in compliance with the most recent American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) standards.
