Anlon 4.0 Selected as System-wide eLearning Software Platform for Maricopa Community College District

September 11, 2001

Anlon Systems announced Anlon 4.0, the latest version of the company’s industry-leading, enterprise-class Learning Content Management System (LCMS), has been selected to support system wide distance learning for Arizona’s Maricopa Community College District (MCCD). The largest community college system in the nation, Maricopa employs 1,100 full-time faculty, augmented by 3,600 adjunct faculty who are specialists in their respective fields, who educate and train more than 243,000 students per year.

The decision to implement Anlon 4.0 throughout the Maricopa system is based on the successful implementation of the Anlon platform at MCCD’s Rio Salado College. Rio Salado, which is recognized as one of the nation’s leading providers of distance learning courses, uses Anlon 4.0 as learning content management infrastructure for all of its internet-based courses.

“After rigorous evaluation of several vendors, our leading-edge Rio Salado College determined that the functionality of the Anlon course management platform far exceeded that of competitive products,” said Ron Bleed, Vice Chancellor of Information Technology at MCCD and Chairman of the Board of Educause. “After witnessing the power of the Anlon 4.0 platform during the rapid deployment at Rio Salado, we quickly moved to expand our Anlon relationship to encompass our entire system of ten colleges. We believe Anlon will provide industry-leading support for our faculty, students, and administrators.”

Anlon 4.0 will be aggressively implemented throughout the district, and be available to all students and faculty to support pure distance learning courses and technology supported classroom courses. The solution will ultimately support over 200,000 learners.

“We are pleased to expand our relationship with Maricopa, a community college system well known for its innovative approach to distance learning,” said Gary J. Feracota, President and Chief Executive Officer of Anlon. “It is gratifying that Anlon’s dedication to rapid, successful deployment in our initial relationship with Rio Salado has resulted in the opportunity to bring the benefits of Anlon 4.0 to one of the largest learning institutions in the country.”
