CHARLES TOWN, W.Va., April 19, 2005 — American Public University System and fellow West Virginia institution Valley College have teamed up to make it easier for students to pursue bachelor’s degrees.

As part of a recent agreement, Valley College (www.valleycollege.com) graduates who earn an associate of applied science degree in business administration, either on campus or online, can transfer all their academic credits toward a bachelor’s degree in management or business administration at American Public University System (www.apus.edu). The University System offers the flexibility of online learning — and a choice of 15 degree concentrations, including corporate intelligence, marketing and sports management.

The University System, based here, is a distance learning institution serving more than 12,000 students worldwide. It is comprised of American Public University and American Military University and offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs.

Valley College offers certificate programs and an associate of applied science degree in business administration. It has campuses in the West Virginia communities of Beckley, Martinsburg, and Princeton. It also offers courses online.

“Valley College sought this agreement because we wanted to provide broader opportunities for our graduates who wish to continue their education,” says Valley College founding president Gary Bettcher.

Valley College graduates may also apply certain credits toward other University System programs, including homeland security, intelligence, criminal justice, emergency management, and more.

“Our convenient method of online learning — and superior programs — are a perfect fit for the Valley College graduate,” says Wally Boston, American Public University System president and chief executive officer. “We’re pleased to help students in our home state as they prepare for careers in business and other fields.”

Valley College was established in 1979. It is committed to serving military service members and others. Both Valley College and the American Public University System are Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges — colleges and universities that provide educational opportunities for servicemembers and their families.

American Public University System was founded in 1993 as American Military University. Today, the system supports students in 50 states and 110 countries. It combines a relevant, affordable, career-focused curriculum with the convenience of 100 percent online courses and monthly class starts.
